Five Nights at Spikes is a first person survival horror game where a normal house becomes a dangerous place after midnight. The odd plush toys found earlier in the day are no longer sitting quietly. When it reaches 12, Spike and his friends start crawling around the house, and you have to keep them at bay until the nightmare is over. You have no weapons, and no safe room with defenses. Instead you have to watch the cameras, listen for movement, use your flashlight at just the right time, and make the most of a small supply of tennis balls.
You can use your phone to access the cameras around the building. Check on a regular basis to find out where the plush creatures are and if one is getting dangerously close. Don’t believe in what you see only. Footsteps and other sounds will give you clues that something is moving nearby, so listening is as important as watching the camera feeds. When you exit the cameras, look around the room and check both sides before you move on to something else.
With a flashlight you can check dark places and respond when a threat reaches your location. Tennis balls are another option for handling things around the house. This gives you more than one tool to manage while Spike and his friends are around.
The difficulty is knowing what needs your attention first. Looking at one camera too long means something else can sneak up on you. Reacting without checking around you leaves you open elsewhere. Keep your eyes open, change your tools when needed, and be aware of anything that changes thru the nite.
Five Nights at Spikes is a dark residential setting that employs camera surveillance and close-range horror. You don’t memorize one source of danger, but rather have to follow multiple plush creatures, react to suspicious sounds, and use the tools at your disposal before something reaches your room.
In Five Nights at Spikes, watch the cameras, listen for approaching paws, keep the flashlight handy, and try to survive the nite.
